This year I managed to avoid the drive of shame. But I didn’t manage to avoid being in town the weekend of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the world’s most exclusive car show.
The whole area is swarming— people + cars = traffic.
Since cars aren’t my thing, I went someplace without them. Just a mile down the road is Point Lobos-–called “the greatest meeting of land and water in the world”—even on a cloudy day, the perfect place to point—and shoot.
After becoming a writer, artist, TV journalist, mother and breast cancer survivor----I realize nothing turns out the way we expect. So I blog about handling the big and little things — with humor, humanity, and hope.

We are lucky–it’s the best—and best kept secret while everyone is at the car show.
Since the day I moved here, 35 years ago, it has been my most favorite spot. We are sooo lucky.
First came the summer I turned 21, driving across the country with friends—had NO idea I would be lucky enough to end up living here. Even now when people complain about how foggy and cold it is in August, I love it.
