I’m feeling the love--even though I didn’t love living here for the first few years—-I’m officially starting the Carmel California Fan Club……to share some of what creates Carmel’s character.
Since I’m not much of a photographer…and since today it was raining…. and since I’m way too spoiled to shoot in the rain, these are some shots I took over the last few months.
A house by Frank Lloyd Wright right on Carmel Beach
Not sure of the architect---fairly sure it's not Frank Lloyd Wright
Not only unusual HOUSES; we have unusual BIRDHOUSES.
Carmel is the most dog-friendly town in America---only we have a cat
The classic Carmel shot...and I think this post is starting to sound like an ad
Some of the houses have clever names....
...some have names AND addresses (only in certain parts of town)
One of the best things about Carmel--- the trees
...you just don't expect to find them in the middle of the street
And if I keep this up, I have a feeling there’s going to be a lot of traffic in our guest room ….
Thanks for posting the photos; absolutely gorgeous. I can feel the ocean breezes now as I sit on a rock by the ocean with my sketchbook—someday, maybe, when life slows down. HA!
Happy Birthday Debi–hope the weather doesn’t spoil your celebration!
Ruthie–Did u fall in love with Carmel when u first came? I was here several times over the years but never could have imagined myself living in such a tiny town. Still sometimes can’t believe it.
Lynn–hope someday soon you’ll get to sit in that spot by the ocean. Even in Carmel, life isn’t always slow. Actually painting by the ocean is one of those things I’ve always wanted to do and never did–like New Yorkers who never visit the Statue of Liberty.
Welcome to my blog... named in honor of all the times I've said "I never signed up for this...." -as a mother, artist, breast cancer survivor, wife, TV journalist. Because nothing seems to turn out the way we expect– I blog about handling the big and little things in life— with humor, humanity, and hope.
What People are saying…
"...poignant and funny at the same time." Joe, FL
"Your insights help me learn about myself and my own relationships." Nancy, NY
"I truly enjoy my daily fix...I am hooked." Debbie, FL
"... the Erma Bombeck of the boomer generation." Emilyn, CA
"... the next best thing to sitting with a friend over a cappucino." Deborah, CA
I’ll see you tomorrow! p.s. I wish!! My birthday is Friday and we’re expecting more nasty weather!
Thanks for helping me to REMEMBER how delightful Carmel is. It reminds me of how I felt about the town when I first saw it.
I am on my way over…save the guest room for ME!
