Happy New Year

IMG_7873

I took this a few days ago—it feels like a sign from the universe and the perfect way to usher in 2010. Here’s hoping that this year brings many more rainbows …. …..and that you find whatever represents your personal pot of gold. Happy, Healthy, Safe New Year to all….

Are you making a New Year’s Resolution?

cluttercast_page

Oy. Exactly one year ago, as my New Year’s resolution,  I started my other blog,  Cluttercast. Every day I posted an item from my clutter, and gave it away to someone who wanted it. It was a big success—-most of all, for me.   This was the first time in my entire life I successfully kept [...]

Miami Beach Memory

shelborne

New York Times. December 27, 2009.  Book Review Section.  Top of page 15, with the review of Miami Babylon by Gerald Posner. When I saw this photo in today’s paper, a different title leaps to mind:  This is Your Life. This is MY life. Miami Beach.  The Shelborne Hotel.  Collins Avenue and 18th Street. Another [...]

In the midst of celebrating Christmas with V’s family, I couldn’t help thinking about her— wondering how she felt giving and getting presents, when the only gift she really wants is something no one can give her. I know what was in her heart on Christmas; and will be in her heart every day from  [...]

Ho Ho Hum

ho-ho-ho-merry-christmas

At least last year, I wrote a sweet and special Christmas post for V when he read my blog Christmas morning. This year I didn’t even do that. I do wish a wonderful holiday for everyone who celebrates.  And I don’t mean to offend….but is a Jew  allowed to say “Bah, Humbug”?

SOS for Santa: Elf Emergency

IMG_7729

Can you blame her? All she wanted was a shot to send to the folks back home… Only problem is that the unscheduled stop made them miss the bus sleigh. While millions  track his progress via NORAD—hopefully Santa will notice this SOS. It’s a long walk  to the North Pole from California.

10 Christmas Confessions

candycane

#1.  I’m Jewish.  So actually I have no business writing about Christmas.  Or confessions. #2.  I grew up in a kosher home.  We also hung stockings and got presents Christmas morning. #3.  My husband is Christian.  We celebrate Christmas with his family; and he doesn’t even mind that we don’t have a Christmas tree. #4. [...]

Equal time

scales

I believe in equal rights and equal pay and equal everything.       Closer to home—equality has its limits. Though our household contains two humans and one cat—things are pretty lopsided around here.  I’m talking closet space, conversation, and definitely drama (our cat wins that one, hands down).   With two females competing for time and attention, this [...]

Hard-wired for worry

slide_4134_57799_large

That blizzard on the east coast.   All those college kids trying to get home.   All those mothers waiting.  Oy. I was a wreck the first time Daniel had to fly back to California from Wisconsin in the winter.  Click here and check it out. My brain is genetically hard-wired to run the same formula [...]

Jealousy: it’s not easy being green

kermit

Instead of trying to have what you want, try to want what you have. I  love that saying;  It sounds so nice. But I always wanted what YOU have. Whether it’s bigger (your bank account) Or smaller (your waistline) Whether you have more ( knowledge) Or less (clutter) When I had an exciting life with [...]
