goats

I see a lot of movies and I don’t often mention them.  But this time I have to make an exception.  For a couple reasons:  goats and George Clooney.

After my recent goat sightings, I figured this had to be a winning combination.

Wrong.    There ARE goats in the movie—-and they come off better than their fellow actors.

And it takes A LOT for me to want to stop staring at George Clooney.

I’m writing this also because I don’t read reviews.  I knew nothing about this movie.   Just before we left to see it tonight, a friend wrote on her Facebook page that it was “pretty dumb”.    I didn’t heed her warning—-and now I feel compelled to pay it forward.

Kind of like a public service announcement.

Personally I’m still a sucker for George.  But honestly, if you want entertainment involving goats, you’ll get more reading Margaret’s blog, Nanny Goats in Panties.

Thanks for the warning. If you want to see George Clooney at his best, you should see “Up in the Air.” Not that it’s a great movie but he’s so good and soooo handsome in this one.

I could have saved you the trouble….
I went to a screening last week in NY. Odd film from beginning to end!

  3. Oh no! This movie’s no good?
    Dang.

Hey, thanks for the shout out, though!

  4. Margaret— Nancy and I can be trusted on this. But any movie with goats in the title—not to mention George Clooney–is a must-see for you.
I’ll definitely see “Up in the Air” when it gets here. Even after this turkey, I’d still be willing to watch George read the phone book.

  5. I was afraid of this.
    Thanks for the warning.

  6. Now I’m a little paranoid that I bad-mouthed George Clooney. Hope it doesn’t spoil our future relationship.

George seems to be having a new relationship at the moment. But if he knew about you, I am sure he would rethink that! I did see the goat movie in question, and I didn’t mind it so much. I think it had some messages that are pretty important. George really is the Cary Grant of our time. Soooo handsome, whatever the movie. Saw the previews for “Up in the Air” today and agree that is a must see.

The movie, “Untitled”, is a delight for those who want to see the New York art scene exploited mercilessly. Quite enjoyable. Very Woody Allen in its angst.

  8. Ok, am putting “Untitled” on our list. I get to choose next since V chose the goat movie. By the way, I agree it had some important messages—I think what bothered me is that those messages weren’t execcuted well–even with a fabulous cast ( actors AND goats.)
Also want to say— as long as I’m now reviewing movies—don’t miss the Michael Jackson movie!

I went to the movies with our son, Max, and his best friend, on Sunday. They picked this movie, which I must admit, I kind of wanted to see, too. It was a beautiful, So Cal-type of day and I really didn’t want to be in a movie theater for it, but the movie theater workers (see my Sunday status) FORCED me to go in with the boys, as they are not 17 years old. Ugghhh! I agree, this movie was REALLY stupid and I can’t even believe that Clooney agreed to do it!!

  10. I can see why Clooney agreed to do it–great cast, great message—it had lots of comedy potential. Key word: potential.
By the way, Donna, I DID see your FB status Sunday–that’s the one I read before we left. Next time you pan a movie, I’ll stay home.

Just one last comment Darryle. I agree about “This Is It”. I went with trepidation, but found myself totally enchanted with it. I thought it was extremely well produced, and it shows Michael Jackson for the childlike person he was. It was extremely poignant. And the music is terrific. It really brings home what a professional he was. It’s interesting that this movie will bring more money to his estate than his tour ever would have. The production costs would have been monumental for a show of that kind.
And one last word: the backup dancers and singers were so talented. It is a shame they didn’t get to do the show.

  12. Marla–I agree with everything you said. Found it fascinating to get an inside view of his vision for this final production. Hard to imagine but probably true that in death, his legend will loom even larger than it was in life.
