Dear Mom:

baby darryle with mom 001

Happy birthday. This year marks a sad milestone—you’ve now been gone longer than you were here.  Today you would be 83.  And suddenly somehow, that doesn’t sound as old— especially now that I just reached a milestone myself.   60 seems impossibly old;  just as 41 seemed impossibly young.  When you died at 41,  you left 3 teenage children—  younger [...]

leftovers

Now that it’s September, my birthday season is almost over….except for the leftovers.    Though I specificallly requested NO GIFTS ,  everyone seemed to think along similar lines—-with very high expectations of my capacity.            Since it’s Labor Day weekend, I’m working on it.       Hope you’re having a great weekend, too!

over the top

I’ve been known to exaggerate…..but not this time.   Over the top is the only way to explain how lucky I felt last week for my birthday—- surrounded by so much love…..and so much chocolate.  Over the top is also the only way to explain Jane (with an assist from Laurie)— who organized this party at her [...]
