It wasn’t just Father’s Day yesterday;  it wasn’t just the first day of summer.    June 21 is also the longest day of the year.

Especially the June 21 that I spent– very fittingly– pushing out a very long (23 inches) 10- pound baby.

happy_birthday_cake-1739June 21 felt especially LO-O-O-O-ONG this year, too–  the first year no one in his family was there to celebrate with Daniel on his birthday.

That seems fitting, I guess, since he turned 21.  The big birthday all the kids wait for—when you finally feel you’re officially grown up.

I’m also waiting for a big birthday this year —-wondering if I”ll finally feel officially grown up too.

  1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky says:

Belated Happy Birthday, Daniel (by proxy). My granddaughter shares your month and day of birth, but she “debuted” six years later.

  2. Happy birthday to your granddaughter. I know several people with this birthday too—including another prince (aside from Daniel) Prince William.

  3. My boy was away at school and w/o any of his dear family on his 21st last Nov. Feels strange, like they should have to be somewhere near us, their point of entry, on that day.

Let me know if this next “big” b-day leaves you feeling grown-up.
    I’m still waiting…

  4. Not sure I’ll ever feel grown up but will definitely keep you “posted.”
