Now that is really NOT fair. I read this and I kept thinking, I'm sure I've read this before... When we got to the exploding eggs I knew I didn't have full blown Alzheimers just yet. (Which btw is a worry for me too, since I had two grandparents with the A disease)

Well, I my Alzheimers lasted long enough to forget you were in reruns...

I have tried to impress on my wife the need for a responsible adult to be in the kitchen when the stove is on. Both she and I are easily distracted and equally capable of letting something on "autopilot" on the range crash and burn. It's not a sign of senility; it means we are not effective at multitasking. Fortunately, our smoke alarm has called us back to task before we set the house on fire, but I think we need to exercise that ounce of prevention. Just as we don't drink and drive, we shouldn't cook and compute. At least, not until the stove and computer merge into a single device!

I get very engrossed in my writing/blogging too... take it as a sign that you are just engrossed in your work? I cannot tell you how many things I have burned because of my stupid blog!

I know this isn't a laughing matter, but I did laugh because of the way you wrote it! (I've never seen/heard eggs exploding out of frying pans before).

I think part of it just had to do with the fact that your priorities were somewhere else at the time (though I'm sure you really wanted to eat those eggs nevertheless).
