Only afterwards did I realize the benefits. We represented the only Jewish people some of their classmates had ever known--which made us much more aware of our heritage and shaping opinions of what that meant. One of the ironies was that my kids and I all became much more "Jewish" than we were before. I felt guilty almost the whole time my kids were at Christian schools.
